This Wednesday race fans should cancel all plans and head on down to Nyora Raceway for the annual Christmas show that is as usual headlined by the big powerful V8 Dirt Modified machines, along with a couple of features for Sports Sedans and Open Sedans the entertainment is going to be cracking.
The Dirt Modified contingent includes a couple of Nyora’s favourite sons with Hot Rod legend Lloyd Hobson and club favourite Daryl Hickson competing on what is their home track. Throw in local South Gippslander Brett Clarke and Nyora acting club President Micheal Ardley and there is a fair chance the Mornington Motors Grand in the Hand victory will be from a local.
A number of other drivers though, have a different idea in mind and are looking for their own Christmas party to continue, Paul Tindal, Stephen Hopkins and Steve Milthorpe are just a few coming to mind.
Track crew have had the track tacky and wide this season, if these beats climb up high we will be in for some terrific over and underpasses.
In the New Years Challenge for Sports Sedans, Nyora has attracted a few of the Alexandra top guns to mix it with the local runners, it should be a great battle with V8s up against 6’ers. Damien Miller is a last start feature race winner at Alexandra and he leads the field.
David Donegan has been setting track records and has won twice at Alexandra this season whilst Dale Morrison, Daniel Unternharer and Josh Service a winner at Nyora last season all form a formidable challenge for the locals.
Marcus Reddecliffe had a win at Drouin recently and he leads the Nyora Sports Sedan contingent with troy Glassborow, Darren O’Brien, Ray Gould and Chris Miles keen to upset the fancied Alexandra lads.
In Open Sedan action Nyora’s Unlimited Chassis car drivers get what is most likely their last run before the upcoming Victorian title.
Warrick Taylor looks the most likely to take victory, however Dale Mead and the crew will be working hard to go home with the upset win.
Standard Saloon action will be on with the blokes and the ladies having a go each. Brendon Miles, Mark Miles, Cameron Dike, Shane Ardley and Aaron Price lead the charge in the blokes, most recently Brendon Miles qualified in pole at the Drouin feature before finishing a respectable fifth. In the girls Sara Benson and Trish Dike are two very strong campaigners in the line up that have been at the front of the Ladies racing for many years when they have been on track, regular racers Danielle Ardley, Sarah Price and Amanda Burrows are confident of a great showing on Wednesday night.
Junior Sedans will also have a run to complete an action packed night of Holiday fun with free use of a jumping castle available for the kids, so be sure to bring all your kids and get the neighbours to come on down with theirs.
Racing is from 5 pm, If you have enquiries call 0408 076 965 Entrance prices $20 for an adult, Kids 12 to 16 are $10 each whilst all other children are free, Pensioners are $10 & a Family ticket is $50 for 2 adults and three 12 – 16 kids & others less than 12 in age.
