With two meetings to go, Drouin Speedway once again is winding down a great season of family entertainment with Ladies Soothing Body & Haze by Hair Design Standard Saloon feature and Stephenson Transport & Latrobe Valley Waste Recyclers Junior Sedan features decided on May the 21st with wins going to way of Tracey Ingram and Bailey Perkins both from the Latrobe Valley area.

The Ladies Standard Saloon feature had attracted Ingram the Victorian Champion to enter along with Tegan Bullard and Shannon Lovell who have had many close races this season, some so close they could work out how many shades of colour they had in each other’s eye shadow.

In the end the Victorian Champion Ingram continued her great finish to the season with another feature race win this time ahead of Bullard, Lovell, Allana Ardley & Courtney Sherry.

Heat race wins were shared between Ingram in heat one, Lovell in the second and Ingram again in the third whilst Bullard, Ingram and Lovell were never outside the top three for the day.

In the Gippsland Junior Standard Saloon point score series that included Bairnsdale, Nyora, Rosedale and Drouin Speedways, Perkins took the feature race win in his final ever Junior Sedan event with plans to move into Sports Sedan racing next season and a car already purchased. Victoria #3 Jack Yeomans, Lewis Williams, Kasey Ingram and Damon Ingram rounded out the top five.

Matt Bowers the former Victorian Junior Sedan champion won the first heat , Perkins the second and the third. Drouin member Rhys Lansdown had two second places finishes in the qualifiers.

Support racing with the Standard Saloons finished with a great first feature win for Ricky Connor who proved too good on the day for Mitch Blencowe, Cameron Dike, Leigh Gooding and Brendon Miles.

Open Sedan racing finished with Jake Blencowe taking a second final win in two days. The night before he won the Sports Sedans at Nyora and backed that up with Open Sedans at Drouin with Troy Tatterson, Gavan Dorain, Daryl Nicholson and Jamie Angus the top five.

Of course the Ace of Spades action was terrific as usual in their demonstration runs, whilst there are no winners in the Vintage Sedan class officially, Ray Irwin, Lana O’Neil and Victor O’Neil were amongst the most entertaining whilst a few cars got damaged in a big crash.

The next race meeting at Drouin Speedway on the 4th of June includes a season ending Demolition Derby with a huge crowd expected in light of the amount of people who crammed into Nyora this weekend to see their Demolition Derby.
